Standards & Criteria

Highlands Nursery School follows the standards and criteria as set forth by the Massachusetts Department of Education. These standards and criteria can be found in the state's "Guidelines for PreSchool Learning" booklet. They are part of the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks, insuring the continuity of curriculum from preschool into kindergarten and the public school system.

Welcome to Highlands Nursery School

Our goal at Highlands Nursery School is to provide a secure environment that contributes toward a positive self-image for each child.

Daily activities are carefully planned to offer the security of a routine, which provides a wide range of experiences towards the development of a child's mental, physical and social competence.

Program activities include free and organized play, daily unit discussions, seasonal activities, finger plays, music, arts and crafts, science, show and tell, snack, rest, outdoor play and story time.

We mix age groups in each classroom. Age relationships play an important role in developing a positive self-image.

All this is offered in a cheerful and loving environment where a child can feel valued and enjoyed for him/her self.

Highlands Nursery School is licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care, is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and is a member of Community Partnership For Children (CPC).
